I also want to remind your readers about the fantastic meals on wheels service available in West Sussex.
Eating at least one hot nutritious meal a day is very important for our health and wellbeing, particularly in colder weather.
Some people, due to illness, frailty or a disability, may find it difficult or impossible to shop, cook or heat a frozen meal. The home-delivered hot meals service may be the answer.
The national award winning meals on wheels service in West Sussex is run on behalf of the County Council by Apetito.

Meals are delivered at lunchtimes between 11-2, up to seven days a week – including Christmas Day.
To find out more about meals on wheels or to sign up for the service call 01903 718893 or email westsussex.office@apetito.co. uk.
Yours sincerely,
Ashvin Patel,
West Sussex County Council Senior Adviser for Adults and Health

Horsham Health & Wellbeing Walks

As always, our valuable volunteer walk leaders have come up with some great
walks, old ones and new ones for you all to enjoy.
There has been a lot of comment recently in the press concerning the increasing
number of people who have been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. This causes
huge pressure, both financial and time, on the NHS and it can be treated by
ensuring we have a good diet and by being more active. This is where walking can
play a large part; everyone can walk, and no special clothes or shoes are required
and we have a kind of walk for most peoples’ capabilities.
Our health is our wealth and by taking a walk and keeping more active, we can
enjoy better health and longer active living.
I was reminded also this week that we are a unique walking scheme; we provide
very nice local free short walks for local people right where they live in our
lovely district. We do not need to travel miles to find a walk, they are right on
our doorstep. There are other groups and clubs that provide longer walks; we
are very special; we provide an opportunity for people to get out and explore
their local area without travelling very far at all, and without any pressure to
keep up.
As always please choose a walk for you; if you have any questions about a
particular walk please do contact me or the walk leader.
